A survey of social media use, motivation and leadership among public relations practitioners

This study investigates the relationship between motivation, leadership and social media use among a sample of public relations practitioners who recently had begun using Twitter to follow Universal Accreditation Board (UAB)-affiliated organizations. A majority of the survey respondents were classified as “everyday users.” A series of Twitter leadership indicators correlated positively with internal motivation and correlated negatively with amotivation. Several word-of-mouth variables also were investigated with regard to motivation.

笔者从隐性课程角度入手,试图厘清三者在基本概念的内涵和外延方面的异同,探讨在隐性课程视阈下"连带学习"、"软技能"与"场"效应三者之间的关联性及作用原理,使得研究者在高等教育的隐性课程理论研究方面进一步拓展研究视野。辨析三者之间的相互关系,使得高校隐性课程实现受教育者的教育价值和高校课程目的的近似统一。     

公共危机治理中政府公信力的缺失与重塑

政府公信力在公共危机治理中具有不可忽视的价值和意义:有利于保持社会稳定;有利于维护和改善政府形象;有利于民众认同政府的危机治理政策;有利于民众参与危机治理。公共危机治理中政府公信力缺失的原因是危机意识淡薄;危机处理方式失当;危机处理机构不健全;漠视民众的生命安全。在公共危机治理中重塑政府公信力应从建立健全危机预警机制、积极开展危机公关、完善行政问责制、构建政府与媒体间的良性互动关系等方面入手。

未婚流动育龄妇女计划生育公共服务现状及需求调查——以江苏省为例

根据2010年江苏省人口计生委＂江苏省流动人口计划生育公共服务均等化课题研究＂的调查数据,对江苏省未婚流动育龄妇女计划生育公共服务现状及需求进行了研究,研究表明：未婚流动育龄妇女免费技术服务水平较低,表现在婚育证明办证率低;计划生育政策知晓率低;妇女生殖健康知识贫乏。     

Enforcing cooperation in public goods games: Is one punisher enough?

We experimentally investigate a finitely repeated public goods game setting where, in each round, access to sanctioning power is exclusively awarded to one single player per group. We show that our central ‘Top Contributors as Punishers’ institution – a mechanism by which a player needs to be the highest contributor in her group in order to earn the right to sanction others – is extremely effective in raising cooperation and welfare due to turnover in the top contributor role and to top contributors’ willingness to substantially sanction others. Our findings yield implications for the design of mechanisms intended to foster cooperation in social dilemma environments.     

Laying the foundation for a global body of knowledge in public relations and communications management

An internationally recognised body of knowledge is both possible and necessary for the future success and professionalisation of public relations. Through extensive content analysis of 31 credential schemes, education frameworks, and scholarly articles produced across six continents, the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management has developed a foundational list of knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviours (KSABs), which entry and mid/senior-level practitioners across the world should possess. This study and list of KSABs is laying the foundation for development of an internationally accepted framework which professional associations and academic institutions across the world will be able to use to benchmark professional credentials and curriculum outcomes.     

Building buy-in: The need for internal relationships and informal coalitions

Significant research has focused on influencing senior leadership, and this study offers new insights into building internal relationships and informal coalitions to provide strategic counsel. These strategies involve internal communications, a neglected area of research and practice. The findings are based on in-depth interviews with 30 executives representing multiple departments in four U.S. companies. A new role justifying public relations’ membership in executive decision teams is internal boundary spanning or gathering intelligence internally across business units, and requires public relations to have a seat at multiple decision tables.     

Use of concurrent mixed methods combining concept mapping and focus groups to adapt a health equity tool in Canada

The aim of this project was to identify and prioritize a set of conditions to be considered for incorporating a health equity tool into public health practice. Concept mapping and focus groups were implemented as complementary methods to investigate the conditions of use of a health equity tool by public health organizations in Quebec. Using a hybrid integrated research design is a richer way to address the complexity of questions emerging from intervention and planning settings. This approach provides a deeper, operational, and contextualized understanding of research results involving different professional and organizational cultures, and thereby supports the decision-making process. Concept mapping served to identify and prioritize in a limited timeframe the conditions to be considered for incorporation into a health equity tool into public health practices. Focus groups then provided a more refined understanding of the barriers, issues, and facilitating factors surrounding the tools adoption, helped distinguish among participants’ perspectives based on functional roles and organizational contexts, and clarified some apparently contradictory results from the concept map. The combined use of these two techniques brought the strengths of each approach to bear, thereby overcoming some of the respective limitations of concept mapping and focus groups. This design is appropriate for investigating targets with multiple levels of complexity.
